Riggs/Sternhagen/McCormack Trio & San Agustin
Friday, March 23rd 10PM
$5 Suggested Donation
San Agustin create mesmerizing waves of improvised and minimal drones,
seamlessly integrated with sounds and textures drawn from traditional
blues and folk sources. Their performances result in scenes of haunting
elegance and introspective warmth as forms and patterns gently grow,
disappear, and reemerge. For this performance, they will be performing as
a duo (David Daniell: guitar; Bryan Fielden: drums). Previous
collaborators include, among others, Ken Vandermark, Thurston Moore, and
Loren MazzaCane Connnors.

The Riggs/Sternhagen/McCormack trio plays improvised music exclusively, in
a language of rapid formal shifts, self-taught techniques and
kaleidoscopic sonic variety. Christopher Riggs, Nicholas Sternhagen and
Timothy McCormack met as students of the Oberlin Conservatory, and use
prepared guitars, double bass, and violin. They have performed with Walter
Thompson and in the US premiere of Olga Neuwirth's operatic version of
David Lynch's Lost Highway.
